Updated: Sep 15, 2020

Let's start with the basics, organic basics that is (;

Organic Basics uses materials such as organic cotton, Silver Tech, and recycled nylon. They source and manufacture all of their goods in Europe and check in on their suppliers every three months to ensure ethical working conditions. Their website offers incredible transparency and their certifications back up all of their sustainability claims. There's nothing basic about a company that practices all of the best aspects of sustainability.

I own a few pieces from Miakoda and they are some of my absolute favorite items in my wardrobe. They have more than just bras, they also make the most comfy sweat pants I've ever owned. Their product their items in New York using sustainable materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, and lyocell. They even have an entire zero waste line where they make accessories using their own scrap fabric.

Wama creates underwear made from hemp! They have a very small live but it is wonderfully affordable. Hemp fabric has many benefits like being naturally anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and super soft and breathable. In fact, hemp is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics currently available. A densely growing plant, hemp literally chokes out any competing plants. This means harsh chemical herbicides aren’t necessary. Hemp also naturally reduces pests, so no pesticides are needed. Amazingly it also returns 60-70% of the nutrients it takes from the soil.

I have my eye on so many pieces from this brand that I am not even sure where to begin. First, I love their inclusivity in body shapes and sizes on their website. The first time I visited the site I felt like there would actually be lingerie made for me. Their sustainable lingerie is made in Canada, so you can rest assured everyone involved was paid a living wage. They use natural dyes in their pieces, as well as organic cotton, organic bamboo, and local mills.

Boody produces all of their items in WARP certified factories which adhere to strict ethical standards. I'm sure by the name of the brand you can guess what their primary material/fabric is... You guessed it, bamboo.

Majamas is an ethical intimates company made right here in the US. They use some of the most sustainable fabrics on the market like tencel, modal, and recycled polyester.

Only Hearts is made in the US, New York to be specific, and uses deadstock fabric to create their pieces. Meaning, they take fabric that would have otherwise been waste and create one of a kind beautiful lingerie.

Soul Flower has more than just bras in their line. They make a wide range of items from baby onesies to sun dresses. They also use an impressive range of sustainable fabrics including hemp, upcycled fabric, and low impact dyes.

Everlane is an industry-wide leader in transparent production. I love their dedication to keeping their manufacturers safe, well-paid, and happy. Additionally, their pieces are made to last significantly longer than the average underwear item on the market.

Anekdot uses upcycled materials for their gorgeous pieces. They source surplus luxury fabrics from production leftovers, deadstock, off-cuts, and vintage materials. They are determined to stray away from mass-produced mediocrity. This makes almost all of their pieces impossible to reproduce after their small batches.

This has to be the most unique line of all the ones on this list. All of Clare's products are hand made locally and use recycled materials. As if her designs aren't cool enough, there is an option on the sizing to enter your measurements and have the lingerie custom made to your exact size.

Sizes: ALL, Prices: $$

Finding the perfect nude lingerie is difficult, especially when the color range isn't inclusive. If you're frustrated and in this situation, check out Proclaim. Proclaim specializes in creating an inclusive nude lingerie line. All of their pieces are made in Los Angeles, California, and are made from earth-conscious materials such as TENCEL and recycled polyester. Personally, I love how simplistic the design is and how perfect it is for a wide variety of tops.

Hi Shelbi! Agreeing with one of the other comments here, I am a bustier human and I don't think any of the bras on these sites would fit me. I also noticed that none of these brands really included any high-impact sports bras (i.e. structured and not flimsy). I'd love your thoughts on where I could find good sports bras for running, etc that are sustainable! Thanks and love your videos :)

I’m not sure exactly how sustainable they are, but Bravissimo is a lifesaver for anyone with larger cup and/or narrow band sizes. If you live in the UK, then you can certainly make use of their bra recycling program. They also seem to be dedicated to ensuring that their employees are properly compensated and work in safe conditions. But they certainly don’t only organic natural materials.

Hey Shelbi! You sent me here via a question about bras on one of your youtube videos, and this is super helpful. However, none of the bras included in here really would fit me. I am about your size in stature, but am a 38G in bras, and thus most of these options don't work. I also would love something between lingerie and sports bra... more like an everyday bra, thinner straps that a sports bra, but not as lacy or fancy as the lingerie. Any ideas or brands you'd suggest?

Hey Shelbi! Thank you so much for doing all the good you do that the world so clearly needs! I was wondering if you could you maybe share your thoughts on how eco-friendly an epilator is? And is it possible to make a video in the near future explaining how composting works and the different ways of doing it? You are truly an inspiration<3 Thank you once again!
